Lions Club of Chennai Skyline in association with Apollo Hospitals and Sight Care Foundation organized a Free Mega Health and Eye Screening Camp today at Kannikapuram locality which is part of our club’s adopted area of Pulianthope. A densely populated and truly deserving area for a Medical Camp, where the dwellers either don’t have the financial opportunity to see a doctor if they are sick or they wait for it until their condition has deteriorated significantly.
Apollo doctors from various specialities including Cardiology, Diabetologist and General Medicine and Eye Care Ophthalmologists from Sight Care Foundation provided consultations and addressed the healthcare problems of the people during the camp.
Free tests of BP, Blood Sugar Testing, ECG ( on doctor’s recommendation), Bone Mineral Density, and Eye Testing were offered and Cataract detection was also done.
As many as 154 Children, Women and elderly people were screened and 23 cataract surgery cases were directed to Appasamy Eye Hospital where the surgeries will be performed free of cost. Free spectacles were given to 63 patients at the venue, and a further 27 patients have been recommended prescription glasses (the glasses would be custom-made and would be distributed free of cost at a later date).
During the camp, our club also distributed Biscuits and Chocolates to all the visitors attending the camp.
