Oct. 15, is celebrated as White Cane Safety Day.
White canes allow blind and visually impaired individuals to travel safely over all types of terrain and around unseen obstacles. They also serve as a symbol of the independent spirit exhibited by their users.
Today our club donated 10 support canes to visually impaired people staying in BC Hostel, Saidapet. We started our free white cane program because we believe that no blind person should be without a white cane, regardless of his or her ability to pay for it.
Thank you Muskaan team for identifying the project, in particular Ln. Tasneem Milwala to identify, conceptualize, source, coordinate and execute the service activity.
