Lions Club of Chennai Skyline organized one of the series of “Vision Screening and Dental Check Up Programmes @ Schools” today for the students of the club’s adopted Govt. Hobart Higher Secondary School.
The school screening camps are a very important approach to eye problems in the community. A great project intended to help future generations.
A team of 7 Ophthalmologists from Sight Care Foundation examined the students for Vision Screening. At the camp, over 530 students across all grades underwent an examination of their eyes., requisite measurements of the students’ eyes were taken and their eyes were also screened for the detection of other eye ailments.
Out of 500+ students who had their eyes examined, 94 were found to require prescription glasses. Prescription glasses will be distributed for free to all the school students prescribed by the optometrist within 4 weeks of the screening camp.
A separate team of 4 specialized Dentists from Clove Dental Hospital inspected the school students and as many as 530 students were examined for various dental ailments and about 156 of these were recommended treatment for various deficiencies.
The dental experts also imparted awareness about dental issues amongst the students and sought to teach the students about the good habits for the longevity of healthy teeth.
Schools are major property owners within the city and important stakeholders of our urban forest. Our Club carried out the planting of 10 saplings in the adopted school area – a honest effort towards green, clean and cool earth.
