CANCER AID – GIFT OF FOOD

Our club received a request from the Oncology unit of Govt. Royapettah Hospital, Chennai to support Mr. Narasaiah, aged 58, a cancer patient from a very poor background availing treatment at the hospital. The patient has a tube inserted through the nasal passageway however the patient is losing weight. To overcome this situation, the doctors recommend a PEG tube which is a better alternative. Our Club donated the Gastrostomy Peg Tube to the patient. To feed this patient, a PEG tube is inserted into his stomach through the abdomen.

When surgery or treatment for oral cancer affects the patient’s ability to eat, a feeding tube is inserted to facilitate meeting nutritional needs. Feeding tubes may be inserted through the nasal passageway for short-term use, but for those patients who require longer use of the tube, it is customary to place the tube directly into the stomach through the abdominal wall.

We are deeply grateful for the incredible support of our angel donors Lion Nilfufer Bakshi, Lion Niamathullaah Khan, Lion Mohammed Amjad and Lion Zulfikar Milwala for their generous donations in supporting the project.
