AWARENESS IS POWER

Breast and cervical cancer are the most common causes of cancer mortality among women worldwide, but actually they are largely preventable diseases.

Lions Club of Chennai Skyline in association with Orthomed Hospital, Chennai organized a Cancer Awareness Program with a focus on Breast & Cervical Cancer at Government Hobart Higher Secondary School.

Under the guidance of Dr. Lizy Vincent, Orthomed Hospital a session on “Awareness towards breast cancer and cervical Cancer in females” was organized.

The objective of the programme is to spread awareness regarding preventive measures to be practiced against Cancer amongst the Students and Teachers / Staffs of the School and thereby among their respective Families.

Dr. Lizy Vincent from Orthomed Hospital explained general information about Cervical & Breast Cancer, warning signs and symptoms, known causes, risk factors, the effect of lifestyle, diet & myths and how cancers can be prevented.  This was an eye opener for all the students and teachers.

The students from 8th to 12th standards participated in the event and about 225 students and 25 Teachers / Staff benefited from the program.

The Club provided healthy snacks to all the participants.
